The institutional ceremony of October 9 is moved to the Plenary Hall of the City Council because the weather forecast

The institutional ceremony of October 9 will finally be held in the Plenary Hall of the Benidorm City Council, instead of the Castell, due to the weather forecast that announces the probability of rain during the day. The plenary session, which will begin at 10:00 am, will have the participation of Benidorm Musical Union, and the Cultural Award ‘Ciutat de Benidorm’ will go to the Choral Group.

Once the plenary session is over, the traditional ‘Fair of typical products of the region’, organized by the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals, will be inaugurated that will be celebrated on Saturday and Sunday.

The Councilor for Festivities, Jesús Carrobles, has pointed out that “the novelty of this year is the change of location, since for reasons of space and compliance with health regulations, it has been considered appropriate that the Fair be held in Elche Park and the nearby Alcalde José Such street for greater comfort and safety ”.

The Fair is an opportunity to find in the same space some of the best products in the region, as well as to contemplate the performance of the 'Peuet dance' by the Queens and Ladies while collaborating with the Commission in the collection of funds for our Fiestas ”.

The president of the Commission, Batiste Rostoll, has detailed that "a dozen stalls will be installed, where you can buy bakery products, salted meats, sausages, oils, wines and nougats". In addition, as in previous editions, a space has been given to different social and cultural entities, and to various establishments; and it will also be installed a bar with popular prices.

On the same Saturday, in commemoration of the Valencian Community Day, the Castell will be illuminated with the colors of the regional flag.

Within the same programming of the festival of the Valencian Community, on Sunday, the 10th, there will be a concert by SM l’Illa, starting at 6:00 pm in Julio Iglesias auditorium in Parque de l’Aigüera.

The councillor of Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, has pointed out that “the bands of music, recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage, are one of the pillars of Valencian culture and transmitters of our tradition, hence that in the Valencian festival they always have an important place within the programming planned by the City Council ”.

In fact, the commemorative events of the festival began last Sunday with a concert by  La Nova Musical Society in Julio Iglesias auditorium, where pieces of traditional and festive Valencian music were performed under the direction of Francisco José Rovira.
