The work, which will last four months, has a budget of 400,000 euros
Imminent start of works to update the water infrastructure on Capitán Cortés Street
The renovation works on the hydraulic infrastructures on Calle Capitán Cortés are about to begin once the tendering process has been completed, as confirmed by the Water Cycle Councillor. This is a “necessary” action after it was found that the sanitation infrastructures “are damaged since they were first installed more than 30 years ago” said the councillor José Ramón González de Zárate.
The deterioration of the infrastructure causes continuous deficiencies in the service “which is why their renovation is essential”. The budget for the work, which will be carried out by the company Aquambiente, amounts to 399,997.89 euros and the execution period is expected to be four months. The bulk of the work will include the complete renovation of the drinking water supply network, the sewerage system and the stormwater network.
The origin of this action is found in the request from the Water Cycle Council to Hidraqua to carry out the project for the intervention “to guarantee and maintain the quality of the service in the municipality”, as explained by González de Zárate. What was considered, according to the councillor, was a “global solution” taking into account current needs and future demands and the actions already carried out with the municipal works of the EDUSI project for the Zona Estación.
The works, therefore, will complement those carried out at the time included in the EDUSI with the renovation of the stormwater network in Colonia Madrid and part of Capitán Cortés. “Now we are finishing the stormwater network and also the sewerage of a very important area” González de Zárate has specified, who has advanced that the urban scene will also be improved and new trees will be placed. The councillor described the intervention as “very good and in line with those we have done in other neighbourhoods and areas of the city”.
As for the sewage system, the project foresees the adaptation and improvement of the network of the streets Capitán Cortés, Amadorio and Guadalest by rehabilitating the current collectors. For the complete renovation of the drinking water network, the current fibre cement pipe will be replaced by another one made of ductile iron. As for the rainwater collection network, the work consists of a new rainwater drainage network whose branches will connect with the general pipe that runs next to Foietes Park. Once these works are finished, the paving will be replaced, leaving the street with universal accessibility and new signage.
