Next week the City Council meets with the Regional Goverment to address this concession and the tram

Grupo Avanza installs QR codes at the urban bus stops to know the arrival time of vehicles

Grupo Avanza instala códigos QR en las paradas del autobús urbano para saber el horario de llegada de los vehículos

Avanza Group, responsible for collective public transport in Benidorm through Llorente Bus, has begun to install QR codes at bus stops that have a canopy so that users can know the estimated arrival time of the vehicles. The reading of these QR codes is done with a mobile application that includes the schedules of all the lines of Benidorm. The Councilor for Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, has been one of the first to use this technology that "makes it easier for users to use public transport, is a qualitative leap for the service."

De Zárate said that "Benidorm is synonymous with innovation, hence we have not hesitated to facilitate the implementation of this technology to Avanza Group, which, we agree, will improve the user experience." In this regard, he has advanced that "we will continue to give the user tools so that he has all the information about public transport", encouraging and facilitating its use.

Also, the mayor has advanced that next week "we met the new director general of Public Works of the Generalitat Valenciana" to address two key issues for the city: the concession -justly- of the urban bus, and the TRAM train when passing by Benidorm.

De Zárate recalled that there are "plenary agreements" claiming this tramway in view of the important "retentions of up to 8 and 9 minutes" that are recorded at various times of the day on Beniardá Avenue through the level crossing of the TRAM; and added that Benidorm is the only municipality on Line 1 pending of tram-train.

The tram requested by the City Council covers just over a kilometer and would eliminate the current level crossing on Beniardá  Avenue and Italia street, and replace them with traffic lights identical to those that operate in Villajoyosa, El Campello or Denia, making the circulation much more agile . This solution has already been applied in practically all of Line 1, and also in 9, of which Benidorm is the departure and arrival station.
