La niña Araceli Such Romero recita el verso en la tradicional Festa de la Creu

Like every May 1, the city of Benidorm has awakened with the celebration of Festa de la Creu, one of the most deeply-rooted and endearing dates in the festive calendar of the city and which has attracted more than two hundred people.

Since last night, the Creu has been adorned with hundreds of carnations on Via Emilio Ortuño, and festive associations of Benidorm, led by the president of Festa de la Frontera, have visited it in a parade from the parish of Sant Jaume and Santa Anna; the president of Festa de la Creu Paqui Calvo Pérez at hte head; the parish priests Juan Antonio González and Estanislao Trives, accompanied by the mayor, Toni Pérez; the councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; the regional deputy Manuel Pérez Fenoll; the president of the Comissió de Festes 2019, Roberto Carretero; the queens, Marina Carrillo and Paula Mayor, accompanied by their courts of honor; the president of the Association of Penyes Verge del Sogratge, Coli Pérez; and members of the municipal corporation.

Before the cross, the parish priest Estanislao Trives has been in charge of blessing the municipality, all those present and the girl Araceli Such Romero, who has recited the traditional verse to the Santa Creu.

The event was enlivened by the Colla de Xirimiters de la Marina both in the parade and in the Plaza de la Cruz. Immediately after, in the Parish of Sant Jaume and Santa Anna, the offering of flowers and Holy Mass was celebrated, enlivened by the Choir of the Barqueta. For this afternoon, at 7:00 p.m., a concert on Gambo Street is scheduled by the Musical Union of Benidorm under the baton of director D. Pedro Salinas.

The program will close on Friday, May 3 at 7:00 pm with the Mass for the Dead at the Church of Sant Jaume and Santa Anna in memory of all the deceased of Benidorm.
