Toni Pérez, on the hotel reopening tour, highlights that Benidorm has designed its own safety seal and protocols
"Expectation and enthusiasm" are the keys to the 2020 tourist season on a "historic day"
This Friday, organized by Hosbec and Visit Benidorm, Benidorm has scheduled a tour of hotels to highlight the reopening of its activity, depending on demand, offering 23,000 beds, in 71 of the 140 hotels, and thinking about the next season 2021.
A contact with local businessmen in the early morning has continued with a visit to establishments to check the reality of hotels that have taken advantage of the lock down and the state of alarm to undertake reforms or have inaugurated their facilities, such as the H10 Puerto de Benidorm.
The mayor, Toni Pérez, has accompanied a good part of the journey and highlighted "the hope, the safety and the illusion" with which the new reality is faced "after making hard, difficult and courageous decisions" - such as decreeing the closure of beaches and hotels in mid-March- and redirect Benidorm DTI strategic plan to DTI + safe.
It is, explained the mayor, "a job and a collective commitment of the city and the destination and of all its social and productive fabric with a fundamental role of all subsectors and services dedicated to tourism" that enables us, as of today, "be more prepared than last March, on a reality that we analyzed since the end of February." The work, said Pérez, "allowed us to travel the pandemic with guarantees and the fruit of it is this reality" of a safe city and destination, with the reorganization of the beaches and the process that enables the reopening of establishments, "congratulating ourselves that the activity return to the streets and establishments of Benidorm ”.
Toni Pérez recalled that "Benidorm is the city that had never closed", that since 1964 "took measures to break seasonality" and that since 1977 it has always remained open: "the city that does not sleep".
The mayor was pleased that Benidorm "is recovering numbers, the result of a great effort by the city of the entire sector" which at the moment "can offer maximum security".
Pérez also showed his solidarity with those tourist destinations that are suffering the incidence of the pandemic and stressed that "contingencies have led us to be more prepared now."
Shortly before this meeting with the mayor, from Hosbec and Visit Benidorm the importance of this day of reopening of hotels and arrival of tourists had been pointed out as a "Historic Day" because it meant a return to normality after a responsible and very professional commitment .
In this period from mid-March to today, the hotels in Benidorm have updated facilities and the whole of the tourist industrial plant joins the resilience effort that the city has offered.
Both Hosbec and Visit Benidorm have highlighted the fundamental factor of security offered on beaches and at destination, and noted the effort in the management of that security that today is a national and international benchmark. The employers and the managing body have been extremely proud of the effort made and of the Benidorm DTI + safe project as an example of resilience and security projection, aware that Benidorm offers happiness and confidence to tourists and residents.
Toni Mayor, president of Hosbec explained the opening of hotels at the rate of demand and the confirmation of the recovery in a summer of weekends and last-minute bookings, although the season is not due to loss. The highest priority of local business is to ensure the future of workers and the business fabric, signaling the hope consolidated by the sales of the summer of 2021 and the confidence in the management carried out.
As a culmination of the day, Visit Benidorm, Hosbec and Invattur have highlighted that the national market is performing very well and the international market is at a good progress of reservations, considering that by the end of the month the trend of return to the new reality, although working, the Mayor said, "with one foot in 2020 and the other in 2021."
