The European Mobility Week in Benidorm starts on the ecological paths of El Moralet
The acting mayor of Benidorm, José Ramón González de Zárate, and the councilor for Mobility, Francis Muñoz, other colleagues from the government team, and individuals met this morning at 10:00 a.m. at the accesses to the area from Vía Parque to know its trails and also the upcoming municipal actions that are going to be carried out there.
Francis Muñoz encouraged residents and visitors to participate in the activities of the European Mobility Week, remembering the “benefits not only for health and the environment” of ecological and sustainable means of transport, “such as traveling by foot", but also in the need to "deepen the promotion of the culture of sustainability" that allows us to face the challenge of the future "with confidence" and enjoy the best possible city.
For his part, González de Zárate recalled that Benidorm is a reference “at the European, national and regional level for “mobility, accessibility, new technologies for the environment and adaptation to climate change”.
The acting mayor pointed out that El Moralet is “the green ring” that surrounds the city from Serra Gelada to La Cala, with the Huerta, Séquia Mare Park, or La Aigüera and emphasized that Benidorm is “green and blue”, in a clear reference to the “clean and transparent” sea and the forest areas recovered for citizens.
Coinciding with the European Mobility Week, González de Zárate recalled that Benidorm will allocate a new investment in El Moralet "of approximately 500,000 euros framed in the Edusi program" (Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development Strategy). Thanks to it, “ecological” cameras will be installed along the trails to “control fires or possible spills” to which a pruning and cleaning reforestation program will be added.
Finally, the acting mayor has called on citizens and those who come to the city to “visit El Moralet Park” because they will enjoy a unique space and “spectacular routes that are fully accessible.”
Tomorrow 'Bicycle Day'
For its part, Tomorrow, Sunday, the second activity of the European Mobility Week will take place in Benidorm with 'Bicycle Day', starting at 10:00 in the morning with a cycling route that will start from Avenida de Madrid to Torre de les Caletes in Serra Gelada Natural Park.
