Dinghy sailing competition at Nautical Christmas in Benidorm

Yesterday afternoon, the first phase of the forty-eighth edition of Nautical Christmas Sailing, organized by the Club Náutico de Benidorm in collaboration with the Department of Sports and the Sailing Federation of the Valencian Community, ended, a tournament that takes place in waters of the Bay.

On this occasion, the competition has been light sailing, in 420 and ILCA (International Laser Class Association) 4, ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 modalities. The regattas began on Monday and have continued throughout Tuesday, with six tests being carried out in each one of the fleets.

On behalf of the Municipal Corporation, councilors Lorenzo Martínez and Jaime Jesús Pérez have been in charge of delivering the awards to the winners of the tournament in this first phase.

In 420, they won the victory Lucy Crosbie and Arantza Reig from the Club Náutico de Javea. in second place Miguel Campos, from Real Club de Regatas de Alicane and Simón Codpñer, from Real Club Náutico de Valencia. In third position, Ángel Poveda and Joel Ferrer, both from Javea Yacht Club.

In ILCA 4, Irene de Tomas, from Real Club Náutico de Valencia, was in first position; second, Nacho Gambín from Mar Menor Yacht Club; and third, Jaume Castaño, from Real Club Náutico de Dénia.

In ILCA 6, Ascensión Roca, from Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja won, followed by Lara Sabina Himmes from Real Club de Regatas de Alicante and by Ángela Andugar, from Club Náutico Campello.

Finally, in ILCA 7, Gonzálo Suárez, from Altea Nautical Club, has obtained the victory; in second place, Manuel García, from the Club Náutico Mar Menor; and third, Luis Alfonso Suárez, from Altea Nautical Club.

It should be remembered that this competition scores for the preparation of the sailing teams that will represent the Valencian Community in national competitions.
The second phase of Nautical Christmas, in Children's Sailing mode, will take place over the next weekend.
