Benidorm City Council subsidizes music schools and students of the three musical entities in the city with more than 35,000 euros, about 3,500 euros more than in 2021. The Local Government Board (JGL) approves next Monday the concession of the aid that the Department of Culture has been summoning since 2016 to "support and promote the cultural work carried out by the three musical entities of the city, training the future musicians of Benidorm", as recalled by the mayor of the area, Jaime Jesús Pérez.

As detailed by the mayor, after evaluating the requests of each entity, the technical commission in charge of these aids has decided to grant the Benidorm Musical Union and La Nova Musical Society the maximum amount that can be subsidized, 12,000 euros; while Societat Musical l'Illa band will receive 11,040 euros.

Pérez recalled that "for the 2022 call, we increased the amount reserved for these aids to 36,000 euros, 3,000 euros more than in previous years, thus reinforcing the City Council's support for the musical and cultural training of the child and youth population of Benidorm”.

The councillor explained that "the amount granted to each of the musical entities is established based on objective criteria such as the number of students, the staff of the band itself and the annual calculation of expenses related to the school."

In this regard, he has highlighted that "at the moment, between the three Benidorm bands there are around 600 students". Some numbers of students "corroborate the interest that music continues to arouse in a city with a long and solid musical history, while ensuring the future of the three bands with new generations of musicians trained first in each of the entities and later, in many cases, in our 'José Pérez Barceló' Music Conservatory”.

Pérez has stressed that "the musical societies of Benidorm are a fundamental pillar in the promotion and dissemination of the musical culture of our city", as well as their "commitment, predisposition and participation in the social, cultural, festive and institutional events that are celebrated throughout the year. To these acts are added, "their own initiatives, often in collaboration with other organizations or local cultural or social entities, generating synergies that enrich the cultural activity of Benidorm."
