Culture increases grants to music schools and students
Benidorm City Council has increased the number of grants to music schools and students, which grows to 36,000 euros, as reported today by the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez. The Local Government Board (JGL) has approved the bases that will govern this call, which in the next few days will be published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) and which establish a maximum amount eligible for subsidy per entity of 12,000 euros, 1,000 euros more than the previous year.
Pérez has recalled that "since 2016 the Department of Culture, in collaboration with the Education department, calls for these grants to support the cultural and pedagogical activity carried out by the three musical entities of Benidorm where students study to be future musicians of the city and are attended by more than 500 students”. Many of these students continue their training at the 'José Pérez Barceló' Municipal Music Conservatory, "being a vital asset in the culture of the municipality".
"Over these years -he explained-, we have been gradually increasing the endowment of these aids, with which we contribute to financing the expenses of the schools, the acquisition and repair of instruments and computer equipment, and the displacements related to their studies".
As in previous calls, "these grants are aimed at the musical entities of Benidorm with a music school and students", and "the amount granted to each of them will depend on objective criteria such as the number of students, the staff and the annual calculation of expenses related to the school”.
Pérez has stressed that "the musical societies of Benidorm are a fundamental pillar in the promotion and dissemination of the musical culture of our city", as well as their "commitment, predisposition and participation in the social, cultural, festive and institutional events that are celebrated throughout the year. Some acts to which "they add their initiatives, often in collaboration with other organisations or local cultural or social entities, generating synergies that enrich the cultural activity of Benidorm".
Last year, the technical commission in charge of these aids granted Benidorm Musical Union and La Nova Musical Society the maximum amount that could be subsidized in that call, 11,000 euros; In comparison, the Societat Musical l'Illa received 9,680 euros.
