The clubs of Benidorm recycle 3,300 kg of glass during the Festes Majors Patronals 2017

This morning the awards of the glass recycling contest 'La peña recicla', organized by the departments of Fiestas and Environment, in collaboration with the Association of Penyes 'Verge del Sofratge', and Ecovidrio, a non-profit organization responsible for recycling, have been delivered this morning in Benidorm City Council.

The councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, along with the area manager of Ecovidrio, Roberto Fuentes, have distributed lots of typical products of the land to the clubs that have reached the best ratios of recycling per member of the club : 'Al pa pa i al vi com bojos' , 'On anem la liem' and 'La Fitora'. In total the members of the clubs of Benidorm have managed to recycle 3,300 kg of glass, 500 more than in the last edition that with the motto 'La peña más glass' reached 2,700.

Jesús Carrobles thanked the involvement of Ecovidrio with local festivals and noted that this initiative, which was born last year in Benidorm, has already been "transferred to other festive locations" in the province. Carrobles has also shown the commitment of the municipal corporation to the environment and has announced that the experience will be repeated next year.

For his part, Roberto Fuentes recalled that the campaign consisted of the installation "during the holidays," from November 11 to 15 in the Plaza de la Constitución "of a giant scale where we invite all the clubs to come and take the glass waste to weigh them. "

During 2016 Benidorm recycled 3,686,960 kg of glass containers, which means an average of 55.32 kilos per neighbor. In the city there are distributed 384 recycled igloos.
