A letter has been sent to the regional director to know the forecast of the Regional Goverment and to know how many centers contemplate this system in their Contingency Plans

The City Council will provide 300 air cleaners to the educational centers of Benidorm

14 January 2021
L'Ajuntament aportarà 300 purificadors d'aire als centres educatius de Benidorm...

Benidorm City Council will provide 300 air cleaners to the city's educational centers, according to the mayor, Toni Pérez, who has added that “the distribution of these HEPA devices will be made proportionally depending on the number of students and spaces of each of the centers ”. Toni Pérez has indicated that these air cleaners will be installed in the municipal Early Childhood Care services, Infant and Primary Education schools, Secondary Education Institutes, Music and Dance Conservatory, in the facilities of the Adult Training Center (FPA ), and in the offices of the Official School of Languages and headquarters of the UNED.

In this way, the City Council will complement the supply of HEPA devices announced last November by the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig; supply that has not yet reached the educational centers of Benidorm.

In this regard, the mayor has reported that “we have sent a letter to the Regional Director of Education of the Ministry to inform us how many devices will be supplied to Benidorm centers of the 8,000 announced by Ximo Puig for the entire Valencian Community, with the aim of complementing this action from the City Council ”.

Toni Pérez has pointed out that “although the supply of these air cleaners is the responsibility of the Ministry, from the City Council we are always paying attention to the needs that educational centers may have, especially in this pandemic situation, trying to assist and collaborate with them so that the development of academic activity is carried out in the best conditions for teachers and students. For this reason, and as we have been doing since the beginning of the health crisis, this time we will have the necessary financial resources to complement the supply of HEPA devices made by the Generalitat ”.

The mayor added that "in the same letter we have asked the territorial director how many of the Contingency Plans against Covid-19 prepared by the educational centers of Benidorm and approved by the Conselleria contemplate the installation of this type of air cleaners necessary, and if in case of not anticipating it is necessary to modify such plans ”.

Toni Pérez has clarified that "due to the regulatory imposition of the Ministry, the installation of HEPA devices does not cancel the natural air circulation of the classrooms, so that throughout the day the class windows must remain open for a period of time determined, as established by the protocol of the Generalitat ”. In fact, "the guide of the Ministry of Education establishes that the classrooms must be ventilated every 25 or 30 minutes for an estimated time of 3 to 5 minutes."

The acquisition cost of these 300 air cleaners is estimated to be around 150,000 euros.
