The Mobility Council supports this request that affects a section of more than 8.5 kilometers, which after the liberalization of the AP-7 has a more urban character

The City Council will ask the Ministry for the transfer of the N-332 as it passes through Benidorm

22 September 2020
El Ayuntamiento pedirá al Ministerio la cesión de la N-332 a su paso por Benidorm

Benidorm City Council will ask the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) for the transfer of the section of the N-332 road as it passes through the city. The proposal forwarded today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, to the Mobility Advisory Council has obtained the support of the advisory body and will be raised to the plenary session next Monday, September 28, after the unanimous agreement of today's Board of Spokespersons.

Toni Pérez explained that “the recent liberalization of the AP-7 has affected the use and traffic of the N-332, thus varying its character, which now resembles that of an urban connection road more than that of a National road". Thus, as reflected in the technical reports accompanying the proposal, after the liberalization of the AP-7, the N-332 has become “a local ring road and only regional connection, being used by users of Benidorm -Finestrat and Benidorm-Alfaz del Pí and La Nucía, since the rest of the traffic now circulates on the aforementioned highway. "

“We understand - the mayor has indicated - that this more local and regional use of the variant and the fact of having the old highway as a free alternative route for long-distance routes justify our request and, consequently, the transfer to the City Council of Benidorm of the section of the route of the N-332 as it passes through the municipal term ”.

The mayor has detailed that the section to be assumed covers the route between kilometer points 144 + 400 and 152 + 360, as well as the Benidorm junction of the AP-7 by Levante and its attached facilities. In total, just over 8.5 kilometers.

Obtaining ownership of this section of road would allow the City Council to “assume the management and maintenance of these more than 8 kilometers. In this way, it would be much more agile when it comes to implementing necessary services, and carrying out actions that allow improving the city's connections with the variant and with the rest of the region, thus favoring access to current public services and future located in the Salt de l'Aigua area - Regional Fire Department, educational centers, Palace of Justice, Invat · tur, future Police Station, Palau d'Esports, etc.- and generating new links with the rest of neighboring municipalities ”.

Toni Pérez has shown himself convinced that "Mitma will attend to this request, which is well argued and justified, as it has already done this month with the request transferred along the same lines by the Municipality of l’Alfàs del Pi."

Likewise, the mayor has recalled that in the last two years the City Council has requested to various supra-municipal administrations the transfer of several sections of road that run through the municipal term that in the last decade have consolidated their urban use. This is the case of the CV-70 of autonomous ownership or of the CV-753 of the Diputación de Alicante. “To date, the response of the administrations has been uneven, because while the Generalitat has refused to give us the section of CV-70 as it passes through our city, the Provincial Council is in favor of the 1.6 kilometers of the “tourist” road that connects Benidorm with l'Albir becomes municipally owned ”.
