A tour around Levante Cycling Ring to celebrate the first prize of the Valencian Community

With the ‘Car-Free Day’ Benidorm says goodbye to the European Mobility Week

22 September 2020
Con el ‘Día sin coches’ Benidorm despide la Semana Europea de la Movilidad

Benidorm today commemorates the ‘Car-Free Day’ within the European Mobility Week that ends today. For this reason, the Local Police and municipal technicians have installed an information point on Armada Española Avenue, a road that will soon be delimited within what will be the first Low Emission Zone of the city.

The Councilor for Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, thanked the Local Police officers for the collaboration provided throughout the week, especially today, on Car-Free Day 'in the work of public awareness so that note ”that“ both the road and the promenade are a pedestrian zone, bicycle zone, scooter zone, and low-emission vehicles ”.

On the other hand, first thing in the morning, members of the city's cycling clubs have concentrated on km 0 of Levante Cycling Ring where they have been received by the Councilors for Sports and Citizen Participation, Mariló Cebreros and Ana Pellicer, who, along with González de Zárate, have travelled around the route.

González de Zárate recalled that a week ago, Benidorm won the first prize of the Generalitat in the European Mobility Week in the category of large cities, with more than 50,000 inhabitants, precisely for the Cycling Ring. To celebrate, from Parc de la Séquia Mare, the squad has circulated through La Comunitat Valenciana Avenue, El Estanquet, Severo Ochoa, Ametlla de Mar and Mediterráneo Avenue.

At the end, González de Zárate said a few words to the residents in Benidorm. "I make a recommendation - use the bicycle, walk and practice running" because "it is good for health" and also in the fight against climate change and so that we have "less pollution in the city".

The European Mobility Week has ended in Benidorm with a meeting of its Mobility, Universal Accessibility and Sustainable Energy Council.
