Today the 14 unemployed people over the age of 30 that the Benidorm City Council has hired for a period of six months through the EMCORP program, subsidized by the Generalitat Valenciana through LABORA, have joined their position. The Councilors for Employment and Human Resources, Mónica Gómez and Ángela Zaragozí, have welcomed the participants of the program, who will serve in the departments of Architecture, Cemeteries and Space, in the 'Smart Office' and in sports and social facilities, respectively.

Thus, the Urbanism area is reinforced with the incorporation of an architect, a technical architect and a law graduate; while a Civil Works engineer will join the staff of the ‘Smart Office’. The municipal Technical Services incorporate a gardening officer, a maintenance laborer and a blacksmith; and two undertakers the area of Cemeteries. Lastly, five municipal facilities guards have been hired.

For the development of the program, the City Council has received from LABORA a subsidy of 141,880.74 euros, from resources of the State Public Employment Service (SEPE).

In addition to the EMCORP program, the City Council has applied for grants for the development of two others. Specifically, about 700,000 euros have been requested within the framework of the ECOVID2020 program to hire 60 unemployed people aged 30 and over to meet needs derived from Covid-19; and a little more than 315,000 euros to hire 20 young people under the age of 30 for twelve months under the EMPUJU program.

The Councilor for Employment has indicated that "we are waiting for the Generalitat Valenciana to resolve both calls to know the exact subsidy that will be available for each program and thus be able to trace the demanded job profiles and start the selection process of candidates ”. Gómez pointed out that "we hope that the hiring and initiation of both programs will be carried out before the end of the year."
