The space for club members grows on the main plot by creating a new parking area on the other side of the avenue, multiplying the parking capacity
The City Council and the Clubs Association are preparing the Camping, where about 4,000 peñistas are expected
The Department of Fiestas and Urban Scene and 'Verge del Sofratge' Associació de Penyes have already begun preparations for Camping 2023, which will be held on April 28, 29, and 30 in the usual venue on Juan Pablo II Avenue. The councilors of both departments, Jesús Carrobles and José Ramón González de Zárate, and the president of the Association, Ramón Cano, have verified today the progress of the clearing work on the site plot, for which next weekend about 4,000 peñistas will pass.
According to the data provided by the Association, 178 members of the clubs have signed up for the Camp, up to a total of nearly 4,000 people, including adults and children. It is expected that in tonight's assembly, the provisional program of Camping events will be presented -to be completed with the activities proposed by the club members and that a lottery will be carried out to establish the order of choice of plots among the registered club members. Once the order has been established, the selection and allocation of plots will take place on Thursday, the 20th.
Carrobles advanced that given this new edition of the Camping, "we are going to make the most of the available space, reducing the adjacent parking area to allocate those extra meters to the club members, thus making the venue more comfortable". In short, "we gain space for the club members, something necessary if we take into account that year after year the influx of partygoers to this weekend of coexistence grows."
Those parking spaces that are eliminated, he clarified, "will be more than compensated, since we are going to create a new parking area on the other side of the avenue, thus multiplying the usual parking capacity and avoiding saturating the area around Juan Pablo II or that the vehicles park in unauthorized places”.
In this regard, González de Zárate, who is also in charge of the Department of Mobility, announced that "to make it easier for club members who use this car park to access the Camping area directly and safely, there will be pedestrian crossing halfway along Juan Pablo II Avenue, which will be painted in the night from Wednesday to Thursday”. This pedestrian crossing will connect the pedestrian exit from the parking area with the entrance to the Camping site.
Once the land of the enclosure and the parking lot has been conditioned, next week the tents of the clubs, of the Association, and of the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals will begin to be installed. As the appointment approaches, the board of l'Associació will inform about the time at which the venue will open on Friday the 28th.
The Councilor for Fiestas indicated that, as in previous editions, " Red Cross and a private security device have been planned that will work 24 hours a day." A Local Police device will also be established and, as usual, special attention will be paid to avoiding the consumption of alcoholic beverages among minors. To reinforce the work of raising awareness about this aspect and about responsible consumption, for yet another year the Unit for Community Prevention in Addictive Behaviors (UPCCA) of the Department of Social Welfare will deploy the 'Coneixement' campaign on Saturday morning. Also on Saturday morning, the Department of Equality will install a 'purple point' to promote a party free of sexual harassment.
Also as in previous years, the City Council and the urban bus concessionaire will have a special service to make it easier for supporters to get to the venue, whose lines and frequencies will be reported as soon as possible. The city's taxis will also have a reserved space on Juan Pablo II Avenue.
