In addition to the updating of the urban scene, mobility and the service network, the project includes a rainwater collector that will mitigate the accumulation of water when it rains
The bulk of the renovation work of Ametlla del Mar will be ready for Easter
The bulk of the work for the renovation of Ametlla del Mar Avenue, in the section between Mediterráneo and Juan Fuster Zaragoza Avenue, will be ready for Easter, so after this holiday period and early summer the project and improvements will be implemented. In this way, "all the work and improvements proposed by the winning company will be completed before the summer, as we had committed," said the mayor, Toni Pérez, during the visit he made to the avenue to see how the works are being developed.
A scheduled visit to the corporation in which the councilor of Works, José Ramón González, has also participated; the person in charge of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; the three councilors of the municipal group Ciudadanos (Cs); and municipal experts and the company in charge of the works, Pavasal. The mayor recalled that "partially it is one of the works that we have anticipated in 2019 because in the budget agreement with the group Cs we understood that it was worth making these works coincide with those of the Mediterráneo, once the asphalt renovation of this avenue from Europe to Rincón de Loix ".
The project of integral renovation of Ametlla del Mar avenue involves an investment of just over 1.1 million euros, "of which 450,000 are subsidized by the Provincial Council of Alicante" through the Provincial Plan of Cooperation to Works and Services of Municipal Competition and Improvement of the Road Network. The mayor has pointed out that the works will be developed "on the surface and mainly in the subsoil" of the avenue. Thus, "we are renewing and giving more capacity to the network of waste and rainwater" to mitigate "the problems of collapse and accumulation of water that occurred during the major rain episodes". In fact, among the improvements assumed by the winning company is the construction of a rainwater collector on the Juan Fuster Zaragoza avenue.
With regard to the surface, "a completely new avenue is going to be left, completely remodeled, with the extension of sidewalks and the renovation of all the urban furniture, using an identical treatment to the one we already practiced in the autumn of 2015 on Avenida Jaime I " In addition, the pavement, signage and lighting will be changed, trees will be planted, a roundabout will be built at the intersection of Ametlla del Mar and Zamora to give traffic more fluidity, and a network will be implemented of new technologies and the bike lane.
Pérez recalled that "thanks to the improvements offered by the company, the renovation of the aesthetics of the avenue will reach Zamora Street"; and he added that the technicians conceived this project in 2016, taking the "pedestrian as the protagonist", encouraging them to gain presence "in this great commercial, residential and tourist road that is Ametlla del Mar".
