The Big Data of Benidorm reaches Brazil

06 September 2018
El Big Data de Benidorm llega hasta Brasil

Visit Benidorm Foundation and HOSBEC participate this week in a seminar organized by SEBRAE (Brazilian Service of support to SMEs) in which the operation of Big Data in Benidorm has been presented to become a Smart Tourist Destination.

There have been 470 registered people who have met in Brasilia to host the # TurismoSummit2018 organized by SEBRAE (Brazilian Service of support to micro and small companies). Three intense days in which the main theme has been the digital transformation in the tourism sector, as evidenced by the different panels in which the participants showed their business experiences and as tourist destinations.

The opening speech made by the Minister of Tourism, Vinicius Lummertz, stressed that this was the most important Seminar held for the digital transformation of companies in the destination, and that it was something fundamental to evolve and attract more tourists, national and international. Next, the representative of Google continued with his talk about tourist data and its application in Brazil.

In Panel 2, "Tourist Market - the tourist experience", Mario Villar participated in representation of the hotel management HOSBEC and the Visit Benidorm Foundation, defending the Benidorm tourism model with a conference whose title was called "The use of Big Data for the tourist's knowledge: the case of Benidorm ".

Within this framework, Villar has explained the paradigm of intelligence applied to the management of cities and the role of Big Data within these parameters. A city model that contemplates Benidorm in its strategy to become a Smart Tourist Destination, with smart growth as its main values. All this, associated with the development of an economy based on knowledge and innovation, with the help of ICT and the Internet in order to achieve the objective of creating a sustainable city economically, socially and environmentally.

He goes on to explain that Benidorm is at the forefront of international digital transformation, in which all the main relevant players in the city's tourism industry have a tourist intelligence system for decision-making. Thanks to the different analyzes carried out from the Big Data department of Visit Benidorm and Hosbec, we begin to understand and extract different behavioral patterns from the tourists that visit the city. As well as the application of these analyzes to know new market niches and trends that without these data analysis would not be possible.

Within this context, attendees of SEBRAE Seminar have been shown some tools that are used within the department to monitor the actions carried out by tourists in the city. Finally, he reminded the audience that this model would not be possible without a governance based on public-private collaboration. Defending that Benidorm is a reference in this issue at a national level.

Taking advantage of the presence in the forum, the representative of Visit Benidorm and HOSBEC has held meetings with different SEBRAE tourism technicians who are in charge of this digital transformation of the different tourist destinations throughout Brazil. Showing themselves very attentive to the model that is implementing Benidorm.

After the presentation developed by Visit Benidorm last year in the TurisTic forum of Salvador de Bahia, this again represents an opportunity for the Benidorm tourist model to be known by the Brazilian professionals who have participated in the seminar, as well as to observe that The Smart Tourist Destination model we are working on can be exported and applied to other destinations in the World. "

The Seminar ends today talking about the "Sustainable management of destinations" and the "Experience of the tourist".
