The car park, free and with a capacity for 372 spaces, is located on Puerto Rico Avenue, in front of the beach

Benidorm will open the new Poniente car park on weekends and bank holidays until the summer

Benidorm City Council will open the new public car park located on Puerto Rico Avenue every weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and bank holidays until the summer, as announced by the Councilor for Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, given the smooth operation that this car park has had during the Easter holidays.

The car park, which was initially open for the such holiday period, has 372 spaces and has been in operation from March 31 to April 10 with hours from 9 a.m. to midnight. The objective was to offer new parking options for vehicles on dates on which the influx of visitors has been very large.

Now it has been decided that the car park will continue to operate on weekends and holidays until the beginning of summer since the influx of vehicles is expected to increase on these dates due to the good weather. "The owners of leisure and restaurant venues in the area have told us that it has been very popular on vacation days and they have asked us to keep it open on weekends because now they will have more occupation in their premises and the opening of the car park It will be very positive” explained the mayor.

The parking lot, owned by the City Council, has 156 spaces for cars inside the property, while another 211 are set up for vehicles and 11 for motorcycles in a completely paved and signposted outdoor space.

The intention of the City Council, as reported by González de Zárate, is that "users get to know it while we, as the City Council, can test the degree of occupancy, demand, the hours of greatest influx and other aspects that will help us to when determining the future management of the car park”. The councilor also remarked that, as has been done during Holy Week, "the use will be free."

This new free car park joins the more than 7,600 park-and-ride spaces throughout the city. For this reason, González de Zárate has influenced Benidorm's commitment to "a large free parking network that facilitates access to the city and is friendly to the driver" and at the same time "gives priority to pedestrians". For this reason "the nearly 40 car parks" distributed from La Cala to Rincón have been conditioned, acting and tidying up open spaces on public or private land "thanks to agreements with their owners" to convert them into "safe places to park our vehicles".
