Benidorm City Council is going to hire 55 unemployed people over 30 years of age to meet needs derived from the Covid-19 pandemic through a grant of 661,598.57 euros granted within the framework of ECOVID2020 program, launched by LABORA in coordination with the Valencian Agency for Security and Emergency Response (AVSRE) and financed through European Social Fund. The Councilor for Employment and Local Promotion, Mónica Gómez, has indicated that this program is aimed "at those people who have lost their jobs due to the economic and social situation caused by the pandemic", and has advanced that "in the next few days it will open the selection process, once LABORA has confirmed the granting of the subsidy ”.
Gómez has reported that " the City Council we have already sent LABORA the job offer, which includes the 55 positions in demand". Specifically, the occupation demanded is the ‘Employees of the customer service department’. For the candidate selection process, Espai LABORA of Benidorm will carry out a survey among the unemployed people in the town registered in the requested occupation. Later, LABORA will send a list to the City Council with the names of the people who will participate in the selection process.
The person in charge of Employment and Local Promotion has explained that “those interested in participating in the selection process must be registered in the aforementioned occupation of 'Employees of the customer service area' and be registered in LABORA as unemployed from 14 March 2020, the date on which the state of alarm was declared ”.
During the six-month duration of ECOVID2020 program, the hired personnel will provide full-time “information and prevention services in different educational centers or spaces; as well as in sports facilities, social centers, beaches and other municipal offices ”. These tasks fall within the AVSRE's performance objectives.
Gómez explained that "the intention is that the people finally selected start working in November."
