Benidorm will enjoy the UCI Cyclocross World Cup in 2024 again

El ciclocross vuelve a Benidorm.
El ciclocross vuelve a Benidorm.

The International Cycling Union (UCI) has revealed the calendar for the next edition of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup. As happened a month ago, Benidorm and the Costa Blanca will host a stop at the most prestigious winter cycling tournament on January 21, 2024. A whole prize for a bet whose first results had already been very positive.

The first edition of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup – Benidorm Costa Blanca was held last Sunday, January 22, and it was a real party. Some 13,000 fans from all over Spain and Europe gathered to witness some intense and exciting racing, with the Dutch Fem van Empel and Mathieu Van der Poel proclaiming themselves the winners of the Elite women's and men's events, respectively. The massive influx of public and participants filled and set the streets of Benidorm throughout the week.

"It makes me happy that Benidorm, the Costa Blanca, and the Valencian Community can once again enjoy the UCI Cyclocross World Cup next year," says Pascual Momparler, head of Momparler Cycling and the UCI Cyclocross World Cup. –Benidorm Costa Blanca. “When we launched this initiative, one of the objectives was to alleviate the low season of tourism in Benidorm; put a grain of sand so that the hotel and restaurant industry would also have work in January. We did it, and we hope to do it again next year.”

“It's a real madness”, continues Pascual Momparler. “I know that the Spanish fans liked our initiative because they treated us very well and supported all the cyclists. I'm sure they will return next year and this will once again be the great cycling event at the beginning of the year. This news makes me happy also thinking about my team, a group of people who worked day and night to make the best event possible. That's how it was, and this is a prize for everyone. We are already looking forward to the next UCI Cyclocross World Cup – Benidorm Costa Blanca to make everyone enjoy 2024 as we already did in 2023”.

"It is excellent news that we have been working on for a long time," says Toni Pérez, mayor of Benidorm. “What we experienced on January 22 was not only the first edition of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup – Benidorm Costa Blanca but also a milestone in the commitment to top-level sports tourism. It was a tangible demonstration that Benidorm is a first-rate enclave to celebrate this type of event with all the guarantees. This announcement is the confirmation we were waiting for: Benidorm will host the UCI Cyclocross World Cup also in 2024, and we will continue working on it as we have done up to now”.
