In a few days the renovation of the water network ends at this point, which runs between Ricardo Bayona and Arnedo streets

Benidorm will begin the paving of the first section of Jaime I Avenue next week

Benidorm iniciará la pavimentación del primer tramo de obra de Jaime I la próxima semana

Benidorm will begin next week the paving of the first section of the third phase of renovation on Jaime I Avenue, which runs between Ricardo Bayona and Arnedo streets. This has been confirmed today by the mayor, Toni Pérez; and the Councilor for Works, José Ramón González de Zárate, during his visit to the works, where they have seen how the renovation of the water network has practically ended in this section.

The mayor stressed that "the most important part of this work is precisely the one that is being developed in the subsoil, with the updating of infrastructure of basic services such as lighting and water, which were obsolete". Thus, it is acting in the networks of drinking water, wastewater and rainwater, and also on the channeling of the lighting. Once the work of the subsoil in each section of work is completed, the avenue will be paved following the aesthetic line of the rest of the avenue, renewed in two previous phases.

The third phase of renovation of Jaime I involves an investment of nearly 700,000 euros and is specified in the only point of the avenue that needs to be updated: from El Cruce to the intersection of Limones and Ricardo Bayona streets. In addition to the renovation of water infrastructure, the project also foresees a new pavement, thus improving the urban scene, mobility, accessibility and urban services ".

At the moment, it is acting in two sections: between Ricardo Bayona and Arnedo, and between Acacias and El Cruce. In this last point, the rainwater and wastewater network has already been updated, so only the updating of the drinking water network before acting on the surface remains.

Pérez recalled that "if everything goes on as usual and there are no setbacks, the bulk of the work will be finished for Semana Santa". "For this first holiday period of the year, only a few auctions or specific details would be pending," he said. The construction company, Bertolín, plans to start next week the underground works on the opposite side of the stretch between Alfredo Corral and Limones.
