Benidorm Unión Musical announces a competition to design the centenary logo
Benidorm Unión Musical, in collaboration with the Department of Culture, has announced a competition to choose the design of the logo that this entity will use in all the activities organized to commemorate the hundred years of its foundation. The contest was presented this Friday by the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, and several representatives of the UMB, including its president, Mari Carmen García, and the president of the Centennial Commission, Francisco Juan Martínez.
Jaime Jesús Pérez has highlighted that this contest is part of “within the preparatory activities that Unión Musical is carrying out on the occasion of its centenary” and has indicated that this logo will be “the seal of identity of everything that is done related to the centenary from now until July 3, 2026, the date on which the oldest cultural entity in Benidorm turns one hundred years old.”
The councillor of Culture, likewise, recalled “the thousands of musicians who have passed through the UMB throughout these hundred years of history”, as well as the prestige of this group and “everything that Unión Musical has influenced in the social life of Benidorm, participating in social, cultural, institutional and festive events and carrying the name of our city throughout Spain and many places in Europe.”
Regarding the contest, Francisco Juan Martínez has indicated that it is open to any person of legal age and, in particular, to students enrolled in cycles, degrees, masters or doctorates in Design, Fine Arts or Communication, and that Individuals or groups may also apply.
All designs must be “original and unpublished” and the objective is that they “represent the values and history of the Musical Union as the main musical institution of Benidorm on such an important anniversary,” added the manager. Francisco Juan has also announced that the deadline for the presentation of works opens on March 1 and will be in force until June 15, when the jury's deliberation will begin to be able to announce the winning design at the concert of the month. For her part, the president of the entity, Mari Carmen García, has indicated that, in addition to the public projection that this award can have for its artist, the winner will also receive a diploma, an accrediting trophy; a night in a hotel in the city and tickets for a spa circuit for two people, thanks to the collaboration of different entities.
Finally, both councillor Jaime Jesús Pérez and the two representatives of the UMB have hoped that participation in this competition “be very high and of a high level” and have invited all interested parties to send their proposals.
