In Benidorm, the sun crosses Portell del Puig Campana in the announcement of the shortest night

After seven in the afternoon, the first curious people began to gather at Partida dels Marxassos, in front of Sant Jaume cemetery, to witness an event that is consolidated every year thanks to the popular impulse of entities as close to us as the Associació Cultural Recreativa 'La Barqueta ' or the Bon Profit Taula, with the support of the City Council.

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, the councillor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer and other members of the government team enjoyed the moment with representatives of the promoters of the concentration. The regional deputy, José Ramón González de Zárate, also attended, who, at all times, remembered the memory of Jaume Climent, 'l' Era', one of the most fervent disseminators of him, who recently died.

When the time came, the sun did not miss its appointment, after last year's disappointment when clouds prevented attendees from enjoying the phenomenon. The attendees, protected by opaque glass, x-rays and the most innovative ones with electric welding helmets, the moment arrived and, in just a moment, the star king fulfilled the ritual by hiding in the Portell, or Tajo de Roldán, at the top of the Marina Baixa.

The moment was captured by the cameras and mobile phones of the attendees, among them, Jaume Fuster, university professor and photographer, latest 'Ciutat de Benidorm' award winner, who captured the event so he could share it.
