The Government Delegate Office against Gender Violence investigates another possible case in Madrid

Benidorm is silent for a minute to condemn the latest sexist murder in Spain

Benidorm has condemned the latest sexist murder in Spain with a silent concentration at the gates of the City Hall. The mayor, Toni Pérez, accompanied by the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, members of the corporation and individual neighbours have shown their rejection of this social scourge.

On this occasion, the victim was 53 years old and was allegedly murdered by her partner who inflicted a hundred stabs on her entire body. The malicious event took place in Seville on June 25 and, after committing the crime, the man committed suicide. The victim had no minor children.
With this, in 2022, 23 women have been murdered by their partners or ex-partners, a figure that rises to 1,153 since 2003, the year in which the statistics began to be computed and that could increase even more if another case is confirmed that the Government Delegation Against Gender Violence has announced that it is under investigation in Madrid.

The Department of Equality reiterates to the public that the City Council makes available to those women who need personnel specialized in gender violence and trained to provide advice to any woman who feels threatened, a free service. Likewise, it reiterates once again that the victims have the free telephone number 016, which leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to eliminate it from the mobile call log. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and in 52 languages.
