Equality recalls the 016 telephone service for victims, which is available in 52 languages

Benidorm shows its rejection of the latest sexist crime committed in Tarrasa (Barcelona)

16 May 2023
Minuto de silencio en el Ayuntamiento de Benidorm.

Benidorm City Council has shown today its rejection and condemnation of the latest confirmed crime of gender violence committed on May 6 in Tarrasa (Barcelona) with a silent rally at Plaza de Sus Majestades Reyes de España, led by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, in which members of the municipal corporation have also been.

The 31-year-old woman was pregnant, and she had no minor children. There were also no previous complaints or records of gender violence against the aggressor.

With this there are already 17 women murdered in Spain so far this year by their partners or ex-partners and 1,201 since 2003, the date on which the victims of gender violence began to be counted.

The Department of Equality recalls that the City Council has personnel specialized in gender violence to provide free advice to any woman who feels threatened. Likewise, she reiterates once again that the victims have the free telephone number 016, which leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to remove it from the mobile phone call log. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, and in 52 languages.
