After weeks of investigations, the murder of a woman on July 30 in a Barcelona town is confirmed as gender violence

Benidorm shows its condemnation for a new crime of sexist violence

Benidorm muestra su repulsa ante un nuevo crimen de violencia machista

The city of Benidorm today has shown its condemnation for a new sexist crime, confirmed last Friday by the Government Delegation for Gender Violence. The mayor, Toni Pérez, this afternoon presided over a silent rally at the gates of the City Hall with which representatives of the municipal Corporation have condemned this new murder, the 32nd so far this year in Spain.
The crime happened on July 30. A woman was found burned inside her vehicle in a place in the Barcelona town of Sant Vicenç de Castellet, and very close to there the body of her husband was also found, who apparently had committed suicide after ending the life of the young woman. Also near the place, the Police found their daughter, 20 months old, who was temporarily in charge of social services.
After two weeks of investigation, it has been confirmed that this crime is a case of gender violence, and that the woman had denounced her partner for verbal violence in April and that both were in divorce proceedings.
The Department of Equality has recalled that the City Council has staff specialized in gender violence to provide free advice to any woman who feels threatened. Likewise, victims have the free phone number 016, which leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to delete it from the mobile call log. This service is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and in 52 languages.
