Benidorm reiterates with a minute of silence its rejection to macho violence

03 May 2017
Benidorm reitera con un minuto de silencio su rechazo a la violencia machista

The victims, a 44-year-old woman and her 12-year-old son, were found dead at their home in Alcobendas

Benidorm City Council has once again shown its rejection of sexist violence with a minute of silence that has taken place this midday at the gates of the town hall building, which has been attended by representatives of the different political groups of the corporation, officials and neighbors with the Equality councilor, Angela Llorca, at the head. With this concentration the city has remembered and honored the last victim of this social scourge.

Yesterday, in the city of Alcobendas (Madrid), a 44-year-old woman and her 12-year-old son were allegedly killed with a knife by her partner. The aggressor is still being sought at the moment. He is known to have a criminal record, although, according to sources of the National Police, there were no previous reports of mistreatment.

If the crime is confirmed, there would already be 22 women and four children who would have lost their lives during the year because of gender violence in Spain. The Department of Equality reiterates, once again, the convenience, in these cases, of the use of 016, the telephone to care for victims of abuse. The call is free and leaves no trace on the telephone bill.
