Animation, dance, music and shows will dominate Elche Park from May 5 to 8
Benidorm recovers the medieval market with a hundred stalls after two years
Elche Park will host Benidorm Medieval from May 5 to 8, an activity organized by the merchants' association, AICO, and the collaboration of the City Council, which returns to the city after the two-year break due to the situation derived from the pandemic.
Benidorm Medieval has been presented this morning by the Councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, the president of AICO, Raúl Parra, and the manager of Anubis Temática, the organizing company, Luis Leal, and is part of the commemorative activities of the 697th anniversary of the granting of the Carta Pobla de Benidorm in 1325.
About a hundred stalls will make up this medieval market, which will also have lots of entertainment, shows, music and dance and a great atmosphere during the four days of presence. The official opening will take place on Friday the 6th at 6:30 p.m., although the market will be open the day before.
Jesús Carrobles has highlighted that the challenge is "to return to the dynamics that the medieval market had before the pandemic" and has emphasized the "important commitment" that this activity entails "for local businesses because it promotes and makes visitors visit the city".
The mayor thanked the merchants' association for his involvement and also stressed that the success of the medieval market is guaranteed "because Benidorm has the public assured."
Raúl Parra, for his part, has also insisted on "the desire of the association to activate the events" and has shown the "illusion" in this activity "that people all over the region and the whole province will be able to visit." Parra has revealed that "a very intense month of May is coming not only with this Benidorm Medieval, but also with the Eurovision 'pre party' and the implementation of the consumer bonuses launched by the City Council.
"We seek a special focus in the city, that people walk and stroll through our streets and shops and come to know us" Parra expressed.
Regarding the content of the market, Luis Leal has detailed that there will be "medieval knights, theater, musicians and various novelties" among which he has cited a group -Los fillos del Lobo- from Alfonsadas de Calatayud as "very powerful" and a dancer of the belly “who just did a tour of China”.
"Everything is going to come together in four days of events in which there will be entertainment and shows at all times," said Leal, who also added that the medieval markets are "a very strong point of empowerment of the local economy because there is a sector public that comes to these events that otherwise would not know Benidorm ".
