'100 years of Pere Maria Orts i Bosch' at the Espai d'Art

You can now visit the exhibition '100 years of Pere Maria Orts i Bosch' at the Espai d'Art of Benidorm City Council, which, on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the scholar, patron and academic, is proposed by the departments of Culture and Festivals in collaboration with the Grup Carta de Poblament. This is the first of the activities of the sixty-ninety-seventh anniversary of the granting of Benidorm Town Charter by Admiral Bernat de Sarrià.

More than a hundred people gathered at the opening of the exhibition. Among them, the mayor, Toni Pérez; the councilors of Culture and Festivals, Jaime Jesús Pérez and Jesús Carrobles, and representatives of the three groups of the Municipal Corporation.

The president of the Grup Carta de Poblament, Mari Luz Navarro, welcomed the attendees and then the exhibition curator, Vanessa Navarro, gave the first guided tour. In addition to the panels that make up the exhibition, it was also possible to see the tapestries in the Plenary Hall, donated by Orts i Bosch to the City Council.

Next, Toni Pérez thanked the work carried out by the Grup Carta de Poblament and influenced the program of activities of the 697th anniversary, "fundamental stone -he pointed out-of the birth of Benidorm" as a town, dedicated this year in part to Pere Maria Orts i Bosch in a “synthetic but successful” exhibition that has made the figure of the scholar “very present in our city”.

The mayor also valued the contributions of the member of the Grup Carta de Poblament, Pasqual Almiñana, philologist and has the Cultural Honour 'Ciutat de Benidorm' who "as a teacher oriented many generations of Benidorm very well". Toni Pérez ended his intervention by encouraging the attendees to "enjoy an intense cultural week" that shows that "the figure of Pere Maria is very present in our city".

The events for the anniversary of the Town Charter continue today with the inauguration of the exhibition 'XXX Aniversari Grup Carta de Poblament' in La Casa del Fester and, half an hour later, with a conference, precisely by Rafael Alemany, under the title ' Pere María Orts i Bosch: L'home i el seu pensament', in the same place.

On Saturday, at 9:30 p.m., the representation of the Town Charter will take place in Plaça de Sant Jaume and on Sunday, at 7:00 p.m., in Óscar Esplá auditorium, the Societat Musical l’Illa de Benidorm will perform a commemorative concert. All the acts are organized by the Grup Carta de Poblament, the Associació de Penyes and the Departments of Culture and Festivals.
