Benidorm protests silently the murder of an 81-year-old woman in Moratalaz, Madrid
This noon, Benidorm has observed a minute of silence in memory of the woman who lost her life in Madrid yesterday. The first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer; the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí; representatives of the three political groups in the City Council; and neighbors.
This is the third minute of silence called in the city this week. The first, on Monday 14, together with the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), in protest of the crimes of the girls Anna and Olivia and the young Sevillian, Rocío. The second, yesterday Wednesday, the 16th, in memory of Alicia, a graphic journalist, murdered in Marmolejo (Jaén).
On this occasion, the concentration was in memory of the 81-year-old woman who died yesterday after being allegedly attacked with a hammer by her husband, 84, in the Madrid district of Moratalaz, shortly after 8:00 p.m. Despite the fact that the health services, notified by the neighbors, quickly came to help her, she lost her life.
With this crime, there are already twenty women murdered by their partners or ex-partners so far this year, 1,098 since the statistics began to be computed in 2003. Gender-based violence in Spain also has 7 orphans under 18 years of age.
The Department of Equality recalls the existence of the free telephone against gender violence, 016, which serves victims in 52 languages 365 days a year and leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although (remember), it should be deleted from the phone call log.
