Benidorm, the PP's laboratory for imposing the 2030 Agenda in Spain

28 August 2025
El portavoz de VOX en Benidorm Miguel San Martín.

In last Monday's ordinary plenary session, the Popular Party once again demonstrated which side it is on: the side of the PSOE and Brussels. With the sole dissenting vote of the VOX councillor, the PP approved Benidorm's accession to the Green City Accord, an initiative that obliges cities to implement the commitments of the Green Deal and the European Union's 2030 Agenda.

VOX's spokesperson in Benidorm, Miguel San Martín, was clear:
"The PP, with its right hand, is bringing us a motion today to adhere to these policies dictated by Europe, and with its left hand, next week it will bring another one to pretend they are defending farmers, ranchers, and fishermen. That is the great hypocrisy of the PP, because in Europe, in the last legislative term, the PP and PSOE have voted the same way 90% of the time."

But it doesn't end there. The Popular Party is also presenting with great fanfare "Benidorm Pride," an LGBTI+++ event under the slogan "More pride than ever," with parades and more than 20 floats between September 1 and 7.
San Martín summed it up with a simple question:

"With these ideological pillars—the Green Pact, the 2030 Agenda, the LGBTI movement, and the low-emission zone—what's missing from the PSOE in Benidorm? The PP has already taken its place. Even economically, its disastrous management of the City Council has left Benidorm with a €340 million debt penalty that our residents will pay and suffer. Today, it is practically impossible to buy or rent a home in Benidorm on a worker's salary; in many cases, it won't even make ends meet."

Reflection for Spain

What is happening in Benidorm should serve as a warning to all of Spain: if the PP comes to power, it will implement the same socialist policies it applies here. Policies that ruin families, suffocate workers, and surrender our sovereignty to Brussels. If the Spanish people want change, it certainly won't come from the PP.
