The city observes five minutes of silence in support and solidarity with the Civil Guard and the families of the agents run over by a 'drug boat'

Benidorm pays tribute to the two civil guards murdered in the act of duty in Barbate

Benidorm rinde homenaje a los dos guardias civiles asesinados en acto de servicio en Barbate

This Monday, Benidorm City Council observed five minutes of silence at the doors of the Town Hall as a sign of mourning for the “cruel death in the line of duty” of two civil guards in Barbate, Cádiz. The tragic event occurred last Friday, when the Armed Institute boat where the agents were found was hit by a 'narco-boat', causing the death of the two civil guards and leaving two other agents injured, one of them seriously injured.

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has led this event as a sign of mourning and respect for the murdered civil guards and their families, accompanied by the lieutenant of the Traffic department of the Civil Guard in Benidorm, Manuel Alberto Sánchez García; the commissioner of the National Police in the city, Ceferino Serrano Torres; the chief mayor of the Local Police, Luis Arévalo. Numerous members of these State Security forces, councillors of the Municipal Corporation and residents of the town have also joined them.

In this way, and following the proposal launched by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), Benidorm has publicly conveyed its "shows of support and solidarity with the families of the deceased civil guards and in recognition of the great work carried out by the members of the State Security Corps and Forces".
