The City Council requests a grant to undertake the project, budgeted at 194,281 euros
Benidorm participates in a call for proposals from the Provincial Council to expand the stormwater drainage system in the Almafrá area and prevent flooding.

Benidorm City Council will apply to the Alicante Provincial Council for a grant to expand the rainwater collection system in the Almafrá district. The Local Government Board approved this proposal in response to a proposal submitted by the Councilor for Water Cycle, José Ramón González de Zárate, who stated that the primary objective is "to prevent flooding in the Camí de la Parva."
The councillor explained that "as we have done in previous years, we are applying for the grants that the Alicante Provincial Council offers each year for the construction and improvement of water supply and sanitation infrastructure, which we have already implemented in other areas such as the Costera del Campo and Almirall Bernat Avenue in Sarrià." This time, the project will cost €194,281.39.
González de Zárate explained that "we currently have a storm drain on Camí de la Parva, but during periods of heavy rain, it is insufficient to collect all the water coming from Avenida Comunitat Valenciana, so the water accumulates in the lower part of the street, impeding the circulation of vehicles and people and affecting the plot where the urban gardens are located." Therefore, he specified, "we are going to expand the storm drain network to ensure that this rainwater is collected along the entire route."
The solution proposed by municipal technicians involves the construction of a new well at the intersection of Avenida Comunitat Valenciana and Camí de la Parva, which will be connected to the existing storm drain. In addition, storm drains will be installed along the entire route. The Water Cycle Councilor stated that "this is a relatively simple project, with a completion time of about two months, but it will represent a significant improvement for the residents of l'Almafrá once it is completed." As the councillor stated in the proposal, implementing this project "remains necessary for the municipality."
