The City Council mobilizes 450,000 euros for these grants ranging from 1,000 to 90,000 euros and aimed at hotels, campsites, pensions, hostels, apartment blocks and management companies

Benidorm opens a new call for grants to the accommodation sector

Benidorm City Council has opened a new call for grants to the local accommodation sector in the face of the economic effects of the pandemic, as reported today by the mayor, Toni Pérez. The Local Government Board (JGL) approved last week the bases of this second call, which "in synthesis follow the same line as the previous one, with which aid has already been granted to 160 accommodations and management companies for a global amount of about of 1.8 million euros ”.

Grants, he stressed, with which he wants to "collaborate with a key sector for the economic activity of Benidorm, which has suffered especially the restrictions and has not received all the support that one would expect from the administrations, which were and are at the end of the day those that should in the first instance have attended an industry that represents a significant percentage of the Valencian GDP ".

Toni Pérez explained that "these grants are directed exclusively, and regardless of the number of workers, to hotels, campsites, pensions, hostels, apartment blocks and management companies in Benidorm", and the amount "ranges from 1,000 at 90,000 euros depending on the category and number of rooms or apartments in the establishment ”.

All the information about the grants, requirements and documentation to be provided are included in the bases of the call, which in the coming days will be published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) and in the website of City Council. Once the call is published in the BOP, companies will have a period of seven days to request these grants.

Companies that meet the requirements and that did not benefit from the previous call may attend this new call. "Not all companies that could benefit from these grants requested them in the previous period, so now we enable this second call to give them the opportunity to participate," he pointed out.

The mayor has indicated that "these aid were necessary in the first call, and they continue to be so now, after Christmas time, fundamentally because the Imserso program, (the program for the elderly), has not yet begun to operate and the accommodation sector is going to be clearly harmed by this delay. ”.

The operation to request the aid will be the same as in the previous call, so all the procedure will be done electronically through the municipal Electronic Office: https://sede.benidorm.org.
