Benidorm offers the dance show 'Yo y la Otra' on Friday included in the 25-N program

22 November 2023
Benidorm ofrece el viernes el espectáculo de danza ‘Yo y la otra’ dentro de la programación del 25-N

The Department of Equality of Benidorm City Council will offer next Friday the 24th the dance show 'Yo y la Otra' by Pilar Andújar company, which will take place in the Cultural Center auditorium starting at 8 p.m. This show is part of the 'Culture for Equality' activities carried out throughout the year by the Departments of Culture and Equality and is included in the programming prepared for 25-N, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The Department has reported that admission is free with the invitation, which can be collected on the 23rd and 24th at the Department of Culture and Equality from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can only collect a maximum of two invitations per person.

'Yo y la Otra' is a female musical that combines flamenco and contemporary dance, theater, and music. It talks about the search for self-awareness including all the dark characters that inhabit us.

On the other hand, also within the 25-N programming, tomorrow Thursday the placement of the 'Benidorm against Gender Violence' banner will take place on the balcony of the City Hall at 11 a.m. At 8 p.m. at José Llorca Linares Social Center, the play 'Mi vida gira alrededor de 500 metros' will be performed.

It is a poetic drama written by Inmaculada Alvear that introduces the viewer to the environment of a family that lives daily with gender violence. During the play, we experience the evolution of a married couple (Antonio and Chiqui) and their daughter (María). To do this, and as a denunciation of the lack of social criticism that in many cases exists, the spectator enters the room blindly and only perceives the development of the work through smell and hearing, which allows exploring different ways of expressing the text, playing with distances, with the sound environment and with the relationship between the actors and the audience.
