The city offers again a program for all audiences and styles, and with great relevance of international artists
Last year concerts, festivals and events brought together more than 170,000 people
The season of musical events in Benidorm will not wait until this summer, but moves forward at Easter, as announced by the mayor, Toni Pérez, during a press conference offered at the Madrid Tourism Fair (Fitur). From April the program will count every month with festivals or concerts, where international artists will have an important relevance.
Although for many contractual reasons it is not possible to advance many of the names that will make up the calendar of events, Pérez has assured that "2017 is the year of consolidation of Benidorm as a festival city", to Low Festival, Benidorm Sound, Iberia Festival and Fuzzville is added a fifth of: Latin international character.
Low Festival, the longest and most popular festival celebrated from 27 to 30 July, has been able to reveal names. Bands already confirmed like Franz Ferndinand, Mando Diao, Pixies and Lori Meyers, In addition, in this new edition the Low officializes the experience of last year, extending one day the festival with the celebration of A Welcome Party on Thursday -27 July - next to Levante beach with the performance (Chk Chk Chk), Miss Caffeine and White Russians.
Growing in days is also Iberia Festival, which will take place on 19 and 20 August, and promises to put on stage some of the most powerful national rock bands of the last three decades. The week before will be the turn of Benidorm Sound, which for two days will turn Benidorm into the epicenter of electronic music with an international artist still to reveal.
With news, the new edition of Fuzzville, the festival of punk, rock and underground music, comes, which this year changes its date moving forward in the calendar to 14 and 15 April, coinciding with Easter holidays.
Those that repeat in the calendar are the two LGBT events in Benidorm, the Pink Weekend - from 19 to 21 April - and the Benidorm Pride - from 4 to 10 September -, the latter event that closes the Pride season at European level and thousands of people are concentrated year after year, many of them from the United Kingdom.
With a British character, Benidorm will live another year, the Fancy Dress, the costume party that emerged spontaneously a few years ago in the English zone after the Major Patron Saint Festivities and that has become a 'must' for tens of thousands of Britons.
The mayor stressed that the provisional schedule also includes concerts of two international artists in May and June, and added that the programming serves practically all styles and audiences, since the smaller ones will also have their own events .
Pérez indicated that the great musical events brought together more than 170,000 people last year and stressed that "we want to keep growing, and that is why some of the festivals this year increase the number of days, even their capacity" . He also insisted that this commitment to events and festivals "is not exclusive to the City Council, but also they are very important for local entrepreneurs and promoters who see in Benidorm a destination to develop and make profitable their activity," and recalled that three of the festivals are financed by Benidorm.
