Benidorm joins '2019 Earth Hour' and will turn off the lights of Levante, Poniente and La Cruz

Benidorm City Council, through the Department of the Environment directed by José Ramón González de Zárate, has adhered one more year to the campaign 'Earth Hour' promoted by WWF, which will take place on March 30 in all the world as a symbol of 'connection with the planet' through responsible consumption of resources and energy.

On Saturday, from 8:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., the lights of monuments, streets, businesses and homes in thousands of cities will be turned off to become aware of the problem and know the importance of participating in the defense of the environment.

Benidorm City Hall will turn off the lights of the garlands of Levante Beach, the architectural lighting of Paseo de Poniente wall, and the monument of 'La Cruz' located in Serra Gelada Natural Park, all emblematic places of the city.

The WWF aims to mobilize more than 7,000 cities, as has happened in previous years, to continue being the biggest call to action against climate change and get millions of people from six continents turn off the light at the same time for an hour .

The Department of Environment encourages individuals, companies and other institutions and administrations to commit and act in favor of sustainability turning off the lights during 'Earth Hour'.
