The project, included in the Benidorm DTI + Safe Tourism Sustainability Plan, involves an investment of 57,750 euros

Benidorm installs six sanitary control points to expand the monitoring of the drinking water network in real time

Benidorm instala seis puntos de control sanitario para ampliar la monitorización de la red de agua potable en tiempo real

Benidorm City Council has begun the installation of six health control points to expand the real-time monitoring of the drinking water network. The Water Cycle Department formalised a contract at the beginning of the month for the supply and installation of the necessary material to expand said monitoring, whose expected objective, according to the Water Cycle Councillor, José Ramón González de Zárate, is “to maintain the city's drinking water network safely and monitored in real-time to make Benidorm a safer Tourist Destination”.

The installation of these six control points involves an investment of 57,750 euros and it was planned in four months, although it will be completed much sooner. This morning the Water Cycle Councillor visited one of the points already installed, in Salt de l'Aigua, accompanied by representatives of Hidraqua, the company that carried out the installation.

These new devices are summarized in a chlorine, turbidity and pH analyzer with a battery that is located in Llaud Street in Salto del Agua network, in Guadalest Street in Colonia Madrid network and at the junction of Armada Española and Xixo Avenue in La Cala-Armada Española network. Likewise, a chlorine analyzer with external power will be installed in Calle Presidente Adolfo Suárez (Xixo network), a chlorine analyzer with battery on CV-753 in front of the Costa Blanca School (Almafrá-Trinquet-Ermita de Sanz network) and a chlorine analyzer 2.0 and flow chamber to measure various parameters with external power in the tank located on Calle Peking (tank 2).

The action will allow us to improve "the intelligent management of the destination while contributing to several Sustainable Development Goals and improve our destination" indicated the councillor. In addition, complementary results are expected that will translate, among other aspects, into “an improvement in the image of the destination, being a model of action for destination managers and in the creation and promotion of tourist products”.

This contract derives from the execution of the Benidorm DTI + Seguro Tourism Sustainability Plan, the objective of which was to contribute effectively to the recovery of the tourism sector after the COVID-19 crisis. This plan aims to consolidate Benidorm as a sustainable and safe DTI with a series of actions, 19 in total, grouped around four main ideas.

In this case, the intervention is part of Axis number 4 relating to ‘Hygienic-Sanitary Safety’ which includes an action aimed at ‘Programs, risk management and safety and hygiene protocols’.
