Benidorm improves sewage, drinking water and sidewalks and the urban scene of Almería Avenue

Benidorm City Council has begun work to improve and replace the drinking water and sewerage infrastructure on Avenida de Almería. A "fundamental and necessary" action in one of the "usual areas of our English tourism", announced today the Councilor for Works, José Ramón González de Zárate.

The intervention will involve the renewal of the water and sewerage services that are currently in a state of deterioration. At some points "busted", to which we must add that "on top is fiber cement with galvanized iron connections". Some materials that González de Zárate has pointed out “could cause health problems”. The pipes "are outdated", he stressed, with deficiencies that could lead to "leaks" in the basement and garages. They also cause bad "odors that harm the neighbors."

The work, which will lead to the change of the sidewalks and the entire urban scene of Almería Avenue "from the Mediterráneo Av. to Lepanto street", contemplates the use of a new technique for pipes. We are going to use - the councilor has clarified - a polyester sleeve that, previously treated, adapts and sticks to the inside of the pipes, leaving them completely renewed, so it will no longer be necessary to make ditches that disturb the neighborhood ”.

González de Zárate stressed that the work will be executed "as quickly as possible", in approximately one month. "We are going to force the machinery - he has specified - before the mass of English tourism reaches us." With this action, Benidorm will have another more “completely finished” street so that “people can enjoy it” once the odors from the sewer system disappear and the rain pipes or drinking water pipes have been improved “so that there is no loss and it reaches homes with much higher quality ”.
