The mass, in memory of the people who died in Benidorm as a result of the pandemic, has been followed, among others, by the mayor, Toni Pérez; the regional deputy, Manuel Pérez Fenoll; the mayor of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; and most of the Municipal Corporation. Also present were the Major and Infant Queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Paula Pérez and Sofía Fuster; their courts of honor; and the presidents of the Comissió, and the Associació de Penyes ‘Verge del Sofratge’, Batiste Rostoll and Adrián Romero.

During the homily, the archpriest of Benidorm recalled “the anguish” of those who have lost a relative during the pandemic, since the “pain” for the loss of a loved one has been added to the impossibility of saying goodbye; and he has asked Sant Jaume and the Mare de Déu del Sofratge to “help and guide us” to face the current situation.

For his part, the parish priest of Sant Jaume and Santa Ana, Juan Antonio González, thanked the City Council for its collaboration so that the development of the two religious acts could be carried out in the Julio Iglesias auditorium

The religious ceremony has ended with the wish of the Parish Council that "next year" the health crisis has been overcome and "our patrons can be walked through the streets from Benidorm by the Costalers de Sant Jaume and the Mariners de la Mare de Déu ”.

Tomorrow, in the church of Sant Jaume and Santa Ana there will be two services in memory of the deceased of Benidorm, at 10.30am and 7.00pm.
