Benidorm Handball Club will play against Barça on Saturday wearing a commemorative '700th Anniversary' shirt

The Benidorm Handball Club will introduce a new jersey to its next Asobal League match, in addition to the activities commemorating the 700th anniversary of the granting of the Carta de Poblament (Town Charter) to the city. Thus, the Councilor for Sports, Javier Jordá, and the club's president, Jacobo Balongo, presented the new jersey at a press conference this morning, which will feature the "700th Anniversary" logo.

The new jersey will only be used for the match between the home team and league leader F.C. Barcelona this Saturday, April 12th, which will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Palau L'Illa in Benidorm. The initiative for the jersey came from board member José Sanchís, "who suggested we do something for Benidorm so that the club would get involved and become closer to the city," explained Balongo.

The shirts the players will wear that day will then be raffled off among all those attending the match who have purchased their tickets for five euros. "We want it to be a demonstration of the club's unity with the city," stated the club president, who added, "We want the Palau to be a celebration."

José Sanchís, for his part, clarified that the intention of his proposal was "to give greater impetus to the 700th anniversary, and what better way to do it than on the day of the match against Barcelona?" "It's a great joy that the club is involved in these issues and one more reason to make Saturday a celebration," he added.

Finally, Sports Councilor Javier Jordá wanted to "encourage everyone to come to Palau d' Sports on Saturday at 7 p.m., and if the team also scores another victory, even better. But this is above all about building the city," stated Jordá.
