Benidorm designs its mountain and MTB trails through 42 Moralet paths

26 November 2020
Benidorm dissenya els seus senders de muntanya i BTT a través de 42 camins del Moralet...

The trail and mountain bike circuit that has been designed between Guillermo Amor Sports City and El Moralet forest will cross 42 paths and will have 8 accesses from Beniardá, Vía Parque and La Cala. This has been announced today by the Councilor for Sports, Mariló Cebreros, after the meeting held with the heads of Citizen Participation, Ana Pellicer, and Public Space, José Ramón González de Zárate, and representatives of the Athletics and Cycling clubs of Benidorm.

At the beginning of October, one of the meetings of  ‘A pie de calle’ campaign, organized by the Department of Citizen Participation together with the Neighborhood Council, took place in the forest area bordering the athletics tracks of the Sports City. In it, it was proposed to the sports clubs that they, as the best connoisseurs of the terrain and of sports practice, would design the routes through the mountain. They accepted the challenge.

This morning, the representatives of the Athletics Club and the Mountain Section (BTT) of the Cycling Club have delivered their first proposals to the City Council, which must now be supervised by the Municipal Technical Services.

For her part, Ana Pellicer pointed out that the network of trails "will be seen in a few months." That the sketches presented by the clubs contemplate routes "that can be done either on foot or by bicycle" and that will have three levels of difficulty "similar to those of the ski slopes: green, the simplest; blue, the one of intermediate difficulty; and red for those who are more daring or have more skill with the bike or in 'trail running' ”. The councilor has also added that this intervention will be paid for by the Tourism Sustainability Funds and those of the EDUSI (Comprehensive and Sustainable Urban Development Strategy ”.

Next Thursday, ‘A pie de calle’ campaing will leave the offices and return to its natural habitat, to the street. Ana Pellicer has announced that the meeting will be in the morning with representatives of the Neighborhood Council and the neighborhood associations of El Cruce and Avenida de l’Aigüera.
