The objective of both actions is to improve mobility and road safety and provide more facilities for parking in the area

Benidorm creates a new park-and-ride in Bernat de Sarrià with almost 700 spaces and a roundabout at the junction of Ciudad Real

Benidorm crea un nuevo aparcamiento disuasorio en Bernat de Sarrià de casi 700 plazas y una rotonda en la confluencia con Ciudad Real

Benidorm will add almost 700 new free public parking spaces to the current offer thanks to the creation of a new park-and-ride on Bernat de Sarrià Avenue. With these new spaces, the total in the city will exceed 8,000 distributed in the almost 40 existing parks and rides.

In addition, a roundabout will be built at the confluence of Bernat de Sarrià Avenue and Ciudad Real Street to improve vehicle traffic and road safety. Both actions will be completed within a period not exceeding two months.
The councilors for Mobility and Citizenship Participation, José Ramón González de Zárate and Ana Pellicer, visited the area this morning together with members of the Neighborhood Council and representatives of the neighborhood associations within the campaign 'A pie de calle' to detail the actions that are going to be carried out.

The work to adapt the plot, measuring 16,561 square meters, has already begun with the leveling of the land and the removal of vegetation.

With the construction work on the roundabout and the creation of the new car park "we will achieve essential objectives for the City Council, such as improving road safety and mobility, as well as public image, and at the same time avoiding uncontrolled dumping" has explained González de Zárate.

The councilor pointed out to the residents that at this entrance to Benidorm from Levante "they will find a new car park with almost 700 spaces that are very close to the existing one at the junction with Derramador Street". Two plots that will allow "all those who come to visit us or who come to work in this area to have perfectly equipped car parks, with lighting and ready for use by anyone".

The Councilor for Mobility also indicated that Benidorm "is a city that can be reached on foot to almost any point in ten or fifteen minutes" and valued the fact that "more than 8,000 free parking spaces" are in service therefore "at Easter, there were no parking or traffic problems because the city was organized in that sense".

González de Zárate also referred to the soon-to-be-built roundabout, which he described as "essential to improving traffic and mobility." As he said, the roundabout "will allow the residents of all the surrounding streets to have access and exit without traffic lights or police" and "will provide more fluidity and safety to traffic and residents will spend less time than sooner in arriving at their homes and without traffic lights or withholdings”.
