Benidorm condemns the last crime for sexist violence in Albacete
Benidorm City Council has convened a silent rally this afternoon in at Plaza de SS. mm. Kings of Spain to condemn the last confirmed crime of sexist violence, which occurred last Saturday, December 10 in Albacete. The mayor, Toni Pérez, has led this concentration in which the victim has been remembered, the number 41 since the beginning of 2022 and 1,174 since 2003, the year in which the data on women murdered by their partners or ex-partners began to be counted.
The victim was found dead in the house that she shared with her partner, to which the firefighters had traveled to put out a fire. About the attacker, who was arrested, there was no complaint of mistreatment by his wife, but there were two previous complaints from another couple and a breach of sentence for violating a restraining order.
The Department of Equality recalls that the City Council has personnel specialized in gender violence to provide free advice to any woman who feels threatened. Likewise, it reiterates once again that the victims have the free telephone number 016, which leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to remove it from the mobile phone call log. This service is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, and in 52 languages.
