Benidorm collaborates with Lope de Vega school in the protection of the environment

13 January 2016
Benidorm colabora con el Lope de Vega en la protección del medio ambiente

The mayor of Benidorm Toni Pérez and the councillor for Beaches Lorenzo Martínez, accompanied by members of the municipal corporation and teachers of the International School Lope de Vega and its director, Aurea González, attended the presentation of environmental projects by students of 4th and 6th grade that took place in the Plenary Hall.

The bilingual presentation in Spanish and English, has been performed by students. The students of 4th year have developed a project aimed at protecting the aquatic environment. The students of 6th year have done the same with the terrestial environment. Both in the form of brochures that will be published soon by the municipal corporation.

The students of 4th grade have drafted the 'Decalogue of a clean beach' ten tips that aim to "teach" users "how to preserve our beaches" in the words of the director of Lope de Vega, Aurea González. The students of 6th grade, have focused their efforts on fire prevention, protection of mountains and the edition of a small guide to teach visitors of Benidorm how to do it. González was very satisfied: "It has been a great day" because the students have done projects which aim to "give value to any environment" of Benidorm and make clear what the ultimate goal set by Lope de Vega: "We want to contribute to improve the quality of life of our environment, "she said.

The councilman for Beaches, Lorenzo Martínez thanked teachers and students for "the effort" and reaffirmed the commitment of the government team with the initiative. Indeed, he believes that the presentation of the projects is "the first step" of a joint effort between Lope de Vega and the City Council to be followed by a second phase of activities on the beaches of our city where students will star when distribute their brochures among users. From his point of view, an effort for the "awareness", he said " so that in the future, our children and grandchildren can enjoy such a privileged environment".
