The proposal has been addressed in the Board of Spokespersons after the refusal of the Ministry to give up the entire 8-kilometer section

Benidorm changes its request for a free transfer of the N-332 as it passes through the city, and focuses on the last 3 kilometers

20 October 2020
Benidorm changes its request for a free transfer of the N-332 as it passes through the city, and focuses on the last 3 kilometers...

The City Council is going to change its request for the free transfer of the N332 road as it passes through the municipality of Benidorm, limiting it to a stretch of just over 3 kilometers. This has been raised today in a Board of Spokespersons called by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and will be reflected in a joint motion that will be voted on in plenary next week.

The mayor explained that this new proposal addressed to the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) “comes after the Roads Unit in Alicante has rejected the transfer request approved unanimously in the September plenary session, and that it affected to a section of almost 8 kilometers between kilometer points 144 + 40 and 152 + 360 ”. This initial request also claimed the free transfer of Benidorm link of the AP7 by Levante and its attached facilities.

In a letter that is reported tomorrow in the Information Commission, the agency dependent on the Ministry alleges that the "section of road" indicated "does not have the condition of an urban road", and bases its rejection on the fact that "the connecting road between the N -332 and the AP7 ", which runs between kilometer points 144 + 40 and 149 + 200, is part of" an important junction between two high-capacity roads and that, consequently, the characteristics of this link "require management joint of the same ”.

Thus, the new proposal would leave the aforementioned link of the N332 with the AP7 out of the scope of the transfer, and would be limited to the last 3 kilometers of the road as it passes through Benidorm, the section between kilometer points 149 + 200 and 152 + 360. Or what is the same, it would cover the section that runs between the vicinity of Sant Jaume cemetery to the municipal area of l'Alfàs del Pi, whose City Council recently “has obtained from the Ministry the transfer of the entire section of the N332 as it passes through the town ”.

The mayor has pointed out that this section -which has two traffic lanes, one in each direction- is clearly a road for urban use, so it would not be possible to deny the transfer by Mitma. Toni Pérez has stressed that it is a "frankly improvable" stretch of road and in which, if it were to be owned, the City Council would act to "improve mobility and security" and to "favor municipal activity as well as that of neighbors. from Benidorm and part of the region that use a road that is increasingly urban ”. An urban character that has been increased after the release of the AP7.
