Benidorm celebrates the I Amateur Theater Show on April 14, 21 and 27 at the Cultural Center
The Department of Culture of Benidorm City Council has organized the 1st Amateur Theater Show that will take place in the Cultural Center of the city on the next 14, 21, and 27 of April with the representation of three works by the Municipal Workshop of Theater and the companies Alpí Teatre and Tossal Teatre.
All performances are at 8:00 p.m.
The Exhibition was presented this morning at a press conference by the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, who was accompanied by representatives of the three entities; Adri Sánchez, Ricardo Molina, and Vicent Pérez. The councilor has taken the opportunity to "invite residents and tourists to enjoy these works" whose admission is free until completing the 450 seats in the Cultural Center auditorium.
The first performance, on April 14, will be staged by the Municipal Theater Workshop and will be 'La comedia de las mentiras', a play by Pep Antón and Sergi Pompermayer and directed by Manuel Troncoso. It is based on texts by Plauto and it is "a comedy of entanglements with humorous and amusing situations in which each of the characters tries to achieve their goals", pointed out Adri Sánchez.
The second play, by Alpí Teatre, on April 21, will be 'Las gracias mohosas', written in the 17th century by Feliciana Enríquez de Guzmán “which has been rescued as a result of a merger with Woman's Legacy to bring women out of oblivion that in those times they had no significance because they were women. It is a work that tells the story of three widows with absurd and meaningless situations” explained Ricardo Molina.
Finally, on the 27th of this month, Tossal Teatre will represent 'Hamlet' by William Shakespeare. Vicent Pérez stressed that it is "a challenge that we had in mind for a long time because it is one of the main works of the greatest author in the English language with a well-known plot that narrates the betrayal of the king's brother, who later marries the queen and from there the tragedy unleashes ”.
The Councilor for Culture, to conclude, stated that this theater show "is the best way to start representing theater at the Cultural Center, for which we must thank the efforts of all the actors, actresses and directors."
