Benidorm begins the creation of a park on Avenida Marina Alta with children's, pet and bio-healthy areas

Benidorm City Council has begun the construction of an urban park on Marina Alta Avenue, in La Cala area, an action that was included in the 2022 participatory budgets and that was the main demand included in the document finally approved by the Neighborhood Council. The action is located on a plot of about 3,200 square meters.

This action, with the name 'Landscape improvement on Avenida Marina Alta', has a budget of 310,559.33 euros and has an execution period of four months. This morning, the councilors for Citizenship Participation and Urban Scene, Ana Pellicer and José Ramón González de Zárate, along with the vice president of the Neighborhood Council, Antonio Zamora, and some residents on another day of the campaign 'A pie de calle '.

“With this action that the neighbors asked us through participatory budgets, we acted in a semi-forest area that was in a degraded state and we turned it into a new park with bio-healthy areas, an agility area for pets, children's games, gardens, etc. .” Pellicer pointed out.

The councillor also highlighted the fact that the plot, owned by the municipality, is very close to the health center, the CDT, and CEIP La Cala. "The decision was made to clean up this area and create a public park for the use and enjoyment of residents and visitors," explained Pellicer, who added that the main objective is "to create a green area that becomes a meeting point.".

The work includes total fencing of the area, selective clearing, paths roads, new public lighting, planting of natural grass, drip irrigation system, installation of children's and bio-healthy games, and safety pruning in the existing pine trees. In addition, safety flooring will be installed, a cushioning pavement "to mitigate the impacts of possible falls by children."

In this sense, the Councilor for Citizenship Participation also highlighted the importance that the local government attaches to Participatory Budgets "because it is one more tool to improve the city, which comes directly from our neighbors and to which we generally allocate more of the 5% foreseen in the chapter of municipal investments for this section”.
