Benidorm begins the countdown to the Patronal Saint Festivities with the celebration of 'Día de les penyes'

Benidorm has already begun the countdown to its Festes Majors Patronals. He did it yesterday, Friday, with the presentation of the Llibre de Festes and continues today with the 'Dia de les Penyes', which is celebrated throughout this Saturday mainly in the Julio Iglesias auditorium, with a large attendance of supporters' clubs. A day organized by the Association of Penyes 'Verge del Sofratge' with the collaboration of the Department of Festivals and which began at 08.00 with the 'despertà' and subsequent breakfast for the supporters at the Casa del Fester 'Diego Cano Enguera '.

At 10:00 a.m., the church of Sant Jaume and Santa Anna hosted a mass that the peñistas offered in honor of the Mare de Déu del Sofratge. At the same time, the 'gymkhana' began in which the participants demonstrated their expertise and ability by completing tests along an urban route.

At 12:30 p.m. the same venue hosted the traditional 'picaeta', (aperitive), offered by the Association, in which club members, the Queens and Dames of the Festes Majors, authorities, and festive entities participated, with the mayor Toni Pérez and the councilor of Parties, Mariló Cebreros at the helm.

The 'Dia de les Penyes' activity resumes at 5:30 p.m., at which time the doors of the auditorium will reopen. Two hours later the Children's Playback contest will arrive and at 9:30 p.m. it will be the adults who take over from the youngest ones on the Julio Iglesias stage with the Adult Playback contest. In total, 19 performances and the participation of up to 21 pennies.
