The performance is valued at about 700,000 euros, will improve accessibility and all hydraulic infrastructures
Benidorm awards the renovation works on Roma Avenue, which will begin next Monday
The Local Government Board (JGL) awarded last Thursday the work of 'Renovation of drinking water and sanitation infrastructures on Roma Avenue', which will begin "next Monday, May 31," as advanced today by the councilor of the area, José Ramón González de Zárate. The councillor explained that "we have held a meeting with businessmen in the area, hotels and tourist apartments, to specify the schedule of the work and that they would transfer us if they preferred that the work began now or later." In view of that meeting, it has been agreed that works begin immediately.
De Zárate recalled that this project includes "the improvement of the entire hydraulic network -drinking water, sewage and rainwater-, the renewal of lighting and the adaptation of the urban scene, including the increase of sidewalks and the placement of trees." With all these actions, "Roma Avenue will gain accessibility and space for pedestrians, while improving its image and services."
The councillor has detailed that "action will be taken on the entire avenue, from the junction with Ametlla del Mar to the junction with Montecarlo", and has pointed out that "the most complex points of the work are those referred to the three water collectors: Estocolmo, Estocolmo with Londres and Monte Carlo ”.
The work, he has explained, "has an execution period of between 4 and 5 months, and our commitment is to try to make the works progress as quickly as possible".
De Zárate has stressed that “with this work we continue to advance in the comprehensive renovation and services in the upper part of Rincón de Loix; a line of action that we started two years ago with the remodeling of Ametlla del Mar and that has been spreading to the surrounding streets ”. Thus, action has also been taken on the streets of Londres, París and Alcalde Manuel Catalán Chana and “the idea is, after tackling Roma avenue project, to continue ascending until reaching Estocolmo and Montecarlo, which are the main arteries of the upper area of Rincón de Loix and those with a higher concentration of dwellings ”.
The work is financed by the 2020-2027 Renovation Fund of the water contract and has been awarded to the UTE constituted by Codelsur Proyectos SL and Categor Obras y Proyectos SL, for an amount of 697,115.18 euros and an improvement percentage of 36 , 19%. This percentage will be invested in actions that complement the initial project.
Project details
At the hydraulic level, it is planned to update the drinking water network, and the construction of a new collector for wastewater and another for rainwater, which will allow the progressive capture of rain, avoiding its accumulation in the streets of the lower part . Investment and action in the subsoil is key to improving the supply of drinking water and sewerage for the entire environment.
Already on the surface, the design of the renovated avenue has taken the pedestrian into account, significantly increasing the size of the sidewalks which, depending on the section, will have a minimum width of 2.25 meters. In addition to expanding the pedestrian area, a green area will be created that will run parallel to the south side of the avenue, improving the aesthetics and comfort of the avenue. This landscaped area is prepared to house a mechanical ramp in the future, improving even more accessibility to the upper part of Rincón de Loix from Ametlla del Mar.
In addition, the transition to LED technology is completed throughout the public lighting network and the road will be renewed.
